To Touch or Not To Touch

In the restaurant business a lot of times people see you as there "slave" or "server", which can be the same thing to those with blurred vision. So what comes in to play sometimes is can you touch your server. One of my co-workers just recently told me about a situation where one of our guest touched her. She is a host and was directing the guest to the next available table. The guest did not want to sit at this table so he forcefully put his hand on your back and pushed her in the direction he wanted to go until they arrived at his desired table. My co-worker told me she sat him and just went on about her business but felt very uncomfortable until the guest left. Have any of you ever touched your server whether to show kindness or to be firm? Have you seen anyone touch their server? Where do we draw the line or should there be a line? Manners Matter. Restaurant Tips or Life Tips: Do not touch others if you do not want to be touched. Do not speak to others in a way you do not personally want to be spoken to. Do be clear and understanding. Do expect to enjoy your night out These concepts may seem like common sense but it seems daily many people forget to use the sense they were born with.
